About us

bloc inc. filmservice was founded in 1992 in Berlin-Kreuzberg by Folker & Grete Greisner. What started with a few traffic cones and a motorcycle in a Kreuzberg backyard was soon expanded to include more and more traffic signs, makeup trucks, generators and a large number of dedicated employees, making the company a pioneer for film specific services in Berlin.

Flexibility, constant accessibility, quality and customer proximity have allowed us to grow into one of the most successful service companies for movie and TV productions. Over many years acquired knowledge, engaged and experienced employees and a growing number of special vehicles and equipment let us reliably and flexibly cater for all your production needs.

We started in a mouldy and dark cellar in Reichenberger Straße, expanding to a backyard lot at Lausitzer Platz and further on to our first proper yard at the Cuvrystraße. All located in our beloved Kreuzberg. After a few years the space available was no longer sufficient and in the year 2000 we ventured across the river Spree to Friedrichshain into our legendary former gas station with almost 2800 m2 in Bödikerstraße. After another 20 years in Friedrichshain we again were running out of space and found our new headquarters in Merler Weg, Berlin-Marzahn (quite a stretch from Kreuzberg). Now with a whopping 7500 m2! The relocation of over 200 tons of equipment during ongoing operations was a logistical challenge that could only be met by the tireless efforts of all employees. The move into our newly built self designed office building took place on March 15th, 2020 … and then, for well known reasons, we’ve got heaps of time to unpack all boxes and make ourselves comfy.

But not only the size of our new yards grew over the years. We’ve adapted our company to constant changes and demands on set. From our first ROBUR truck (with a terrible ecological footprint…) converted into a make up truck in 1992, to decommissioned public buses as mobile lounges for actors and crew, to trailers we now design specifically for movie requirements (floor plans of which are often and readily copied). By using trailer we’ve been able to reduce our eco footprint significantly as our vehicle fleet consists only of late model trucks and pick ups. Besides the changes to our vehicles and yard locations a lot of other things changed as well … but to list everything would lead to a book. Let’s rather discuss this over a cold drink!
